O a sunny day me and my husband (at that time my boyfriend ?) decided we want to discover more of St. Petersburg and took an Uber with our friends to Pushkin.
In this town there is one of the most known and most impressive palaces ever built in the archtectural history of Russia, Catherine Palace.
Catherine Palace is a magnificient palace built in a very ornamental Rokoko style that found it’s home in Tsarskoe Selo that is known also as Pushkin. The palace was built in the 1717 for Catherine I.
Catherine Palace owes its greatness and spectacular eststics to the Empress Elizabeth, who was using Tsarskoe Selo as her main summer residence.
The palace was updated and upgraded by many architects under the Empress Elisabeth and the new structure built in the Rococo style, designed by the court architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli and completed in 1756.
This was just a little bit of history from me, but for more detaled information you can take a peak on the official site of Ctherine palace.
Now lets take a dive in the fabulous interiors of the palace. We spent all day here and believe me it was not enough time to admire everything. It was like walking in a dream and being a queen.
In the Gallery above (at the beginning of this post) you have more photos of ornaments and details in the fairytale of Catherine palace and the Catherine Garden sorrouding it.
Hope you enjoyed this architectural trip in the russian Rokoko era.
