This year we finally made it again to visit Fashion Forward Dubai and see the amazing inspiring collections for Spring/Summer 2017.

Is the third time I had the pleasure of visiting this fashion event in the middle east, in beautiful Dubai and it always amazes me, so the city as Fashion Forward Dubai as a growing fashion platform that brings together such great designers and guests from top positions in the world fashion industry.

The first day we visited few shows and the ones that I liked mostly are House of Nomad, Ezra Couture and Kristina Fidelskaya.

HOUSE OF NOMAD

Dubai’s beloved homegrown label goes back to their sports-luxe core, experimenting with a multitude of fabrics, silhouettes, and colours more than ever.

Their signature cropped tops and bomber jackets are kitschy this season, matched with palazzo pants and miniskirts in vibrant hues like green, blue, yellow, orange and baby pink.

KRISTINA FIDELSKAYA

Kristina Fidelskaya’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection titled ‘Amore’  had us falling in love with every piece as it sets new rules for what should be in every woman’s closet.

“Our latest SS17 collection titled ‘Amore’ is inspired by the duality of love – the passionate and the romantic,” says Kristina Fidelskaya.  “From an updated bomber dress to ethereal chiffon blouses, you will find a contrast of styles throughout this collection that stems from a woman’s balance between these two very raw emotions.”

The Kristina Fidelskaya SS17 collection embraces feminine qualities with a brush of masculinity, visible throughout their signature pieces.  The always-present Kristina Fidelskaya Dress Coat is seen in both a biker and bomber style with matching stirrup pants.  On the contrary, chiffon and lace are present in their luxurious blouses and tops.  The colour palette ranges from olive, peach, off white, gold and bronze, uniting all warm tones to truly embrace the spirit of the warmer months.

EZRA COUTURE

UN TRAVAIL  D’ AMOUR (A LABOR OF LOVE)

“I take inspiration on our very own weaving industry. The Banig (Mat) truly exudes beauty, but technically, it’s not a textile, depending on the regions in the Philippines. The mat is made of buri (palm), pandan on sea grass leaves. The leaves are dried, usually dried then cut into strips and woven into mats. Even though it’s not a textile, this does not hinder Filipinos to do a really great job in showing the endless creative capability.”

This collection is dedicated to my Artisans who have been with me for the past 12 years, their dedication and love for their craft are all labor of love.
